Brian Donahue grew up 1600 miles away in Michigan, about ten minutes from Detroit. He developed his love for science through his many hiking and backpacking experiences as a child. His father is a chemist and taught him the scientific method early on. As a child he spent many summer vacations at natural history and science museums. It was only natural for him to become a science teacher.
He first obtained a two-year degree in computer information systems, before graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelors in Biology and Psychology. He earned teaching endorsements in Biology and Integrated Science, and Brian has taught honors biology, biology, as well as 5th, 7th, and 8th grade science.
Brian’s students have had great success in annual science fairs, even though he has taught at small schools. One of his students has even won at the international science fair.
Brian is a self proclaimed nerd, loving science, computers, and gadgets. His hobbies include hiking, camping, backpacking, and collecting plants. He is married to his high school sweetheart and has one son, Carter, whom he loves dearly.
