Mr. Findlay
Mr. Findlay

*Describe a time you saw/heard Don advocate for a student.

Mr. Findlay is a huge advocate for the importance of Music in his and all student’s lives. He is constantly challenging his students to become better musicians, better performers, better students, and better people through his subject matter. From Falcon Symphony to Music Connections; he has created an environment in which his students can feel successful and part of an ensemble. Beginning instrumentalist are encouraged to grow and mature with their instruments, while Intermediate and Advanced Students are challenged to reach greater heights in their playing.

*Describe a time this teacher added to the collaborative efforts of his fellow teachers.

As a colleague, Mr. Findlay is always trying to assist his fellow teachers every way he can. Whether it is offering advice as a seasoned teacher, helping to chorale students during performances, or offering insightful resources and humorous comments… Mr. Findlay makes sure he is reaching out to provide service to his colleagues at every possible opportunity.

*Any other wonderful, inspiration, or commendable wonderfulness about Mr. Findlay we should let everyone know about?

Mr. Findlay has been working in Jordan School District for a number of years. A Jack-of-all-trades, he used to teach at Copperhills High School as both the Instrumental and Choral Director, and had the opportunity to start both programs here at Sunset Ridge. Students that work with Mr. Findlay have the opportunity to learn from not only a really spectacular teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience, but also from a very talented musician. He plays the cello and piano beautifully, and probably has the skill to pick up just about any instrument and make it sing! This immense talent has transferred to his children and many are instrumental performers of accomplishment in their own right, including Band/Orchestra Teachers and Members of the Orchestra at Temple Square.

*What is Mr. Findlay’s favorite snack (candy bar, etc) just in case students or teachers would like to shower this Falconer of the Week with their snack of choice?

He loves popcorn and trail-mix. He’s sort of a health nut with what he eats, so I Mr. Findlay’t really know what type of candy he likes.
